We at Eastern Regional Family Resource Network, Inc. work with the local groups in each county they serve to assess needs, establish priorities, and develop and implement plans around those priorities.

A Family Resource Network, or FRN, is a non-profit community-based organization made up of concerned citizens who work together to make their communities a better place to live. FRNs support priority setting, planning, community engagement and collaborative initiatives.

FRNs are defined in state code (Article 26, section 5-26-2b) as "a local community organization charged with service coordination, needs and resource assessment, planning, community mobilization and evaluation." FRNs do not provide direct service.

The Eastern Regional FRN serves Grant, Hampshire, Hardy and Pendleton counties of West Virginia.

Current Programs and Initiatives

• AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) - Placing VISTA members with organizations in the eight eastern counties of West Virginia to help build capacity to address local issues and alleviate the impact of poverty.
  
  
• CASA of Hampshire County (Court Appointed Special Advocates) - Recruiting and training volunteers to act on behalf of children who are in the court system due to abuse and/or neglect.
  
  
• Community Collaborative - Providing continuing education opportunities in nonprofit management.
  
  
• Developmental Assets - Promoting Search Institute's framework for positive youth development in all four counties.
  
  
• Energy Express - Providing a six-week summer reading and nutrition program in partnership with local schools, WVU Extension, and the Hampshire County United Way.
  
  
• H.A.L.T. (Helping Adolescents Learn Trust) - Promoting social skills building programs for middle school students.
  
  
• Hampshire County Cancer Coalition - Coordinating the annual Breast Cancer Survivor luncheon, Women on Wellness Retreats and monthly wellness education and support meetings.
  
  
• Hampshire and Hardy County Community Foundations - Improving the quality of life in Hampshire and Hardy counties by building permanent endowments.
  
  
• Partners in Prevention - Working on child abuse prevention through activities such as community baby showers, parenting education, and Children's Memorial Flag day observation by teams in Hampshire and Pendleton counties.
  
  
• Potomac Valley Cultural Diversity Council - Working to identify and address the issues accompanying a growing Latino population.
  
  
• Substance Abuse Prevention - Building collaborative partnerships to address prevention and treatment needs in the Potomac Highlands.
  
  
• Speaker's Bureau - Connecting people who have knowledge about child and family issues with people wanting to increase their knowledge.
